It's off to Cyprus I go

Well everyone, It's time to say goodbye to the great gaming community of Montreal. This move is bitter-sweet... I'll miss certain things about this place and others not so much... (like snow at the end of April) I'd like to thank everyone at GamersWorld and local players, you were all fun and a great bunch of guys. Thanks to Dave for not playing as many games as I did in the last league so that I may bring the Nightfall medal to Cyprus with me as I had intended from the start. I'll try to keep up with the upcoming changes in the Montreal community and hope that after the store closure, the community will remain strong.
So long! A la prochaine!

Avatar mod

It's been a while since I've posted so here's an update. I got tired of painting my FlameGuard Unit (down to the details now) so I've decided to modify my Avatar because I find that the stock look of the model doesn't do it justice. This is definitely the biggest modification that I've tackled so far and in order to do it right and hack the ugly mofo to pieces, I ended up buying a saw. The saw works great and is quite precise, I was quite surprised. I first decide to extend all the limbs and make him a little taller and leaner. Once all the pinning was complete I tried to position him in a pose that isn't too static... no success. It just looked like he was running... not quite the look that I wanted. I then decided to base him on a wreck as if he was had just killed it. At first I thought of getting a Khador wreck since there are so many Khador players out there and I would be able to piss off the maximum number of opponents. (Haha) I ended up basing him on a cryx wreck since it wasn't overly bulky and had decent positioning areas. In the end I was quite satisfied with the pose.
I still have to pin the head, add tons of green stuff, perhaps modify the sword (depending on my molding abilities with the limbs) and I'm still debating in adding the "battledressing" or keeping him bare.
Here's what it looks like so far.
Thanks for stopping by.

It's starting to look like an army

I'm really good at starting my models but I have a hard time putting the finishing touches on them. I don't know if it's because details can be such a pain in the ass or if it's due to my chronic procrastination. Regardless of the reason, I had started painting my choir and my Crusader at the beginning of the grow league and I never ended up finishing them. They were about 80% complete but just not quite done. I decided that today was the day to get them out of the way before starting up on the next models. (Al 1 - procrastination 100000000)

What I did today

I woke up this morning feeling horrible so I called in sick and stayed home. I figured painting would be a nice way to relax and take things easy. After testing a 15 point army this Saturday against Jose and Max, I decided to paint the Testament of Menoth. I started first thing in the morning and finished it this evening due to the excessive amount of nose blowing . Although I'm not feeling much better I'm feeling good about my achievement for the day. I hope that you all like it.

Side project

A friend of mine gave me this miniature to paint for him when I first started painting. I've been putting it off since I'd rather paint my own (especially since my unpainted collection is growing at an exponential rate). Anyway, I figured I'd better paint it before I left for Cyprus next month. It gave me the opportunity to experiment with lighting and fire. I didn't spend too much time on it considering I have so many to paint for the grow league
Here's the result.

Primed and ready

Let the games begin!
Last night I ended up making a makeshift spray paint booth in the washroom. I didn't want to chance any bad quality issues with the primer paint in the cold. It worked out fine and the fumes were expelled through the ceiling fan.
I'm still unsure of my choice of models for my first 15 points since I'm hoping to use my exemplar knights if I get the parts I ordered from PP in time. So far I've decided on Feora, Choir, Crusader and Revenger. As I paint I'll be deciding on what other models I'll be adding to the group.
Color wise, I decided on the basic colors but I tend to adjust my palette for accents as I paint depending on the look of the model.

Rising Fury - Warmachine Grow League

I've decided to join Warmachine grow league where the objective is to paint a new army at a gradual pace. Since I'm an extremely slow painter, I might be jumping into something that might be more than I can handle in this busy period.
So far I've been very impressed by the organization and the woderful job Paradogmatic has done with the league blog. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's painted army and the progression as the weeks unfold.
I've pretty much decided on my army but am still debating between warcasters. Feora or Harbinger... I might wait to paint Harbinger at my own pace in order to give her the proper time that she deserves. I'm still putting the army together and ensuring that they are well cleaned before priming them and now that I know what models I'll most likely use, I've started to prioritize.
Until next time,
